Here is the almost completed screen room!!! Cant wait to get the dogs beds out here so they can start enjoying it!
Construction has begun on our new screened in room for the dogs where they will be able to be outdoors without really being outside. This way they are safe from predators and mosquitoes, etc. The crew did a fantastic job on the slab! You can't really tell but there's a slight slant to the floor so it can be hosed down if needed.
Farewell beautiful Charlie
I want to take a moment to remember our dear boy Charlie. Charlie came to Elfie's Refuge about 3 years ago. Charlie embodies the true spirit of our rescue. He had been abandoned in a shelter as a senior, and had no other alternatives. He would have died there in the shelter had we not agree to take him.
We had three wonderful years with Charlie. He was totally blind, but it never slowed him down. Charlie was a great eater, he loved to snuggle and lounge on the bed on a fluffy blanket. He ran around our five acres every day, and although he wasn't quite sure where he was, it didn't stop him from enjoying the outdoors. Charlie spent his twilight years being loved, dressed in warm clothes when it was cold outside, spoiled and fed treats. He wasn't even sick yesterday, but he quietly slipped away last night. I will miss him every day, but I'm proud that I was able to show him love in his senior years. I expect to see him again. Till then, all my love Charlie Brown.

Our little girl Pink had her eye done today. She was missing the one eye when we picked her up at the shelter, but the socket was still open and the area around it never seemed to heal. It turned out that there was an abscessed tooth that was causing the problem, so that has been removed and in a few weeks when all the infection is all cleared up we will finish the job.
