The story of Tweeter, or do homeopathics work
Tweeter first came to us from the Miami Dade shelter. She was called Lulu then, but I renamed her in honor of a little bird that I saved who flew freely through my house for four wonderful years. Tweeter used to sit on my shoulder to rest or watch TV with me. I thought Lulu should be as free as a bird too. So Tweeter she became. Tweeter has degenerative joint disease, which grew worse over time. Four different vets and two specialists later, and she was nearly hairless and unable to walk. |
But Tweeter had a zest for life, ad no matter what she loved us and she loved being alive. No way I was giving up on her!
And then we started her on homeopathics. Its early to say but all of a sudden her hair is growing back like crazy and she looks so much stronger!!! Take a look. Its hard to see but the hair on her body is thick and full and you can run your fingers through it and now the hair on her head is growing in too. Fingers crossed here folks!!! Stay tuned for more.

Shorty
Imagine being locked into this rigid position!!! How terrified he must have been. He was also covered in fleas and ticks, and unable to even scratch. You can just see the despair in his eyes.
Shorty was taken immediately to the vet and thus far we have done xrays and done some tests including blood work. We have been able to rule out spinal cord injury and xrays did not reveal any tumors. We are currently awaiting blood work results, but it looks like it may be encephalitis, either viral or bacterial. Shorty is on fluids, an IV antibiotic and pain medication. He is currently in 24/7 emergency care. We are optimistic that he will pull through, however his vet expenses will likely exceed $500. If his story touches you, please use the donate link above to help our little Shorty.
UPDATE: 2/2/2016
It is with great sorrow that I write that our Shorty passed away at 2:00 AM last night. He had started to deteriorate Monday morning and I rushed him to the vet. Afterward he went to Treasures From the Heart with me. In the afternoon he seemed to rally and I was hopeful but I woke up just before 2:00 AM and he wasn't breathing and I held him and caressed him and he came back for a few minutes, as if to say goodbye. In rescue you get pretty tough, but then sometimes a little soul comes along that completely steals your heart. Shorty, I loved you, if only for a few days. I saw you slipping away and I couldn't stop it. I'm sorry little baby. Be perfect and fly free.
Last night Shorty and I put together this wind spinner called the Angel Wings spinner. I did the work and he sat on the couch and supervised and accepted kisses. I'm going to put it in the garden in his honor.
